Academic Programs

A bachelor's degree program in the US is structured so that you first study a general education program aimed at strengthening and supporting your overall development. A liberal arts education reflects the multiple ways of viewing and understanding the world, and provides you with the academic and personal tools needed to understand your role and to build on your strengths. This general education program is what is offered at GPI for up to two years.

General education is an interdisciplinary program wherein you are required to study components of:

Social Sciences

Quantitative Reasoning

Natural & Physical Sciences

Languages

Writing

The courses lead you to earn 60 credits in the first two years of your bachelor's degree program. The remaining 60 credits can be completed in your third and fourth year when you select a major and shift to Arcadia University's main campus in Glenside, near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, or apply to another university of your choice in the US

Undergraduate Curricula Programme at GPI

The journey to earning your US undergraduate degree begins at GPI! The innovative undergraduate curricular coursework is designed to prepare you for a bachelor's degree from a US institution. You learn in a highly supportive environment, tailored to accelerate your growth and success.

The US undergraduate degree is a 4-year degree program that requires you to complete ~120 credit hours of coursework. Of these, a portion fulfils general education course requirements, a portion fulfils your major requirements, and a portion fulfils free electives of your choice. At GPI, you will complete 60 credit hours of general education requirements in two years (four semesters) by studying the curriculum provided by

Arcadia University, including areas of social sciences, physical and natural sciences, quantitative reasoning, arts, and languages. For these courses you will earn Arcadia University credits that may be applied towards the completion of your undergraduate degree at Arcadia or any other US institution.

There are approximately 4,000 universities and colleges in the United States, most of which will accept credit for accredited coursework completed at GPI. Due to the unique and distinctive methodology, an American liberal arts education and US degrees are recognized outside of the US without limitation

When do I Choose a Major?

In most cases, you do not have to choose a major until the start of your second (sophomore) or, more rarely, even the third (junior) year of pursuing a bachelor's degree. Most first-year students are admitted to Global Pathways Institute as undecided majors and start courses that cover general education requirements. Hence, your choice of major does not influence your chance or decision of admission to GPI.

During the course of your study at GPI, an academic adviser will help guide and support you as you make many important choices, including selecting a major, planning the pathway required for that major, and identifying the university where you would like to complete your degree.

Based on the pathway planned, you will complete the required general education coursework at GPI. Some majors take more preparation than others, so GPI allows time and flexibility for applying to a desired major program. You will have the opportunity to apply to any US university or complete your studies at Arcadia University's US-based campus when you have completed the course requirements for your desired pathway or major.
